What is a Pooner?
A person who gives of their time, talents, and riches to the Harpoon community.
An award given yearly to recognize the efforts of the above.
Yearly vs. Lifetime Pooner
  The yearly Pooner award recognizes extraordinary effort often within (but not restricted
   to) a single 12 month period.
  The lifetime Pooner award recognizes those people who seemingly single-handedly keep
   Harpoon alive and contribute heavily year after year.
Rules
- You may only vote once.
- Only votes for individuals will be counted, no groups.
- Only votes placed thru this site will be counted, stirring speeches supporting your vote at the various community forums are encouraged, but only votes placed here count.
- Do not vote for those who have already won. Caveat: Where groups have won in the past, you may vote for individuals of those groups who have not yet won a Pooner.
- Do not vote for Tony Eischens. He is the fellow running this and would rather avoid as much controversy as reasonable
- Votes are accepted from December 1st thru December 31st, the winner will be announced by January 7th.
Hints
- The voter validation process sends you an e-mail message, it may be marked as spam so watch your spam bucket. You can head to the "Begin Voting Process" link to resend the message as needed.
- The votes can be stacked, please don't do it. There is extensive logging and obvious vote stacking will be dealt with.
- Each IP address can only place three votes except for aol.com e-mail addresses.
- Each e-mail address can only place one vote.
- While names and e-mail addresses are gathered in the voting process, they will not be used outside of the voting process.
- The winner will be announced on at least the big lists and forums with others hopefully spreading the word.
Procedure
- Follow the "Begin Voting Process" link where you will have to enter an e-mail address, name, and a bot detector image text.
- Once you fill in the information and submit the validation you will be sent an e-mail address with a link to the voting page.
- At the voting page you will again have to pass the bot detection test.
- Finally you get to vote, please copy and paste from the list of people who already have votes if you want to vote for them, otherwise write in your choice. The list is not pre-populated, it simply shows who has received votes thus far.
- Some details and statistics of the voting will be released after the winners have been announced.
